For a long time, we wanted to leave the Paris region to find more space and serenity. Our road trips in the van we had fitted out ourselves led us several times to the Côtes d’Armor. We were won over by its unspoiled coastline, the beauty of its countryside, and the authenticity of the region.
In 2021, we made the choice to settle here. With no regrets.
The idea of opening gîtes didn’t come overnight. It grew gradually, driven by the desire to change our lives, to return to something more tangible, freer, more grounded. We needed to create in a different way. With our own hands. Together.
After visiting several properties, we came across two adjoining houses in Plouha. No instant love at first sight, but a feeling: there was huge potential here. These late 19th-century houses, one with a small outbuilding on the right-hand side, were just waiting to come back to life. It all began with that outbuilding. We started learning by doing. It became our very first gîte, Mamie Cocotte, which opened in January 2023.
Since April 2025, the renovated large house has also been welcoming travelers. Tata Jacqueline, warm and convivial, was designed to host families and big groups. Once again, much of the renovation work was carried out by us, in line with our philosophy.
Today, the adventure continues in Trédarzec, with a third gîte currently under renovation. A long-term project, progressing at our own pace, and one we love to share regularly on social media.
Behind this project is, of course, the desire to welcome you and help you discover our corner of Brittany, but also the will to give a second life to built heritage, often left abandoned. Restoring these houses also brings new meaning to our daily lives.
We hope you’ll feel at home with us, that you’ll take time to slow down, to explore, to savor… and maybe to come back.
This region truly has it all.
It’s never easy to choose a name for a gîte—especially beyond simply calling it after its hamlet or location. And when you have several to name, plus a website name that ties them all together, the challenge is even bigger. All the more so when the gîtes are not in the same place!
The website name took a while to mature. We finally chose TatîeMamîe, because we all remember going on holidays at a tata’s or a mamie’s house.
Mamie Cocotte was the nickname given to my maternal grandmother because she had chickens. Naming our first gîte after her was a way to honor her memory.
Tata Jacqueline is a nod to an inside joke born during a game of tarot, where one of the players kept imposing the quirky, nonsensical “rules of Jacqueline.” Ever since, any made-up variation to official game rules has been called “Tata Jacqueline’s rules.” It felt natural—and fun—to name our second gîte after her.
As for the third gîte, the name hasn’t yet been decided. Maybe it will even be a man this time.
