… Did we get there?
We arrived in the Côtes d’Armor in 2021. We wanted to leave the Paris region for a long time. A few trips in a van arranged by us took us to this beautiful department where most of the coasts are preserved. And the interior is not left out. So we decided to come and settle here. No regrets.
… offering cottages for seasonal rental?
The idea of opening cottages came gradually. We visited several properties and bought these 2 terraced houses. In reality, it is a ternary type house built in the 4th quarter of the 19th century. It includes a low lateral outbuilding on the right. It is through this dependence that we began our renovation.
The next step of the project is to complete the renovation of the large house to also offer it for seasonal rental. We also acquired a third house, also to renovate, in the town of Trédarzec bordering Pouldouran. We will tell you more when the time comes. We have a few months, not to say a few years of work ahead of us because we try to do as many things as possible.
Beyond our desire to offer you a pleasant holiday place for you to discover our magnificent region, we wish to participate in the maintenance of the Breton architectural and real estate heritage which is often unfortunately abandoned or poorly maintained.
We hope that you will have a great time in our cottages and live beautiful experiences.
The region is rich in everything.
… These names of our website and cottages?
It is not easy to choose a name of cottage beyond simply calling it by its location, its geographical location. So choosing several and, in addition, finding a website name that combines all this, is a real challenge. Especially when the cottages are not all in the same place!
The name of the website took a long time to mature. We chose TatieMamie (“Tatie” means Auntie and “Mamie” means grandma) as we all remember having been in vacation with our aunt or grandma in our childhood.
Mamie Cocotte* was the nickname given to my maternal grandmother because she had hens. (*By allusion to the onomatopoeia imitating the cry of the hen, “cocotte” is used in various ways directly related to the meaning of “hen”). It is therefore in tribute to my grandmother that we called our first cottage Mamie Cocotte.
The name of the cottage Tata Jacqueline is in reference to a joke born during a tarot game where one of the players imposed on us the wacky and crazy rules of Jacqueline. Since then, any deviation from the official rules of a board or card game has become the rules of Tata Jacqueline. It then seemed natural and funny to us to call our second cottage Tata Jacqueline.
The name of the third cottage is not yet decided. Maybe it will be a male name.
